The Lagos State House of Assembly has suspended three Local Government Chairmen for flouting guidelines governing their activities.
The chairmen in question are Ogidan Olaitan of the Lekki LCDA, Suleiman Jelili of Alimosho LGA and Tajudeen Ajide of Surulere.
Their suspension was approved by all the Assembly members in a voice vote after legislator representing Alimosho Constituency 1, Bisi Yusuff, raised a complaint against Olaitan.
Backing Yusuff, another lawmaker, Fatai Mojeed (Ibeju-Lekki 1), named Jelili and Ajide as having issues against them that are being investigated.
The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Mudashiru Obasa said: “Total disregard for the local government guideline is something that should not be tolerated.
“We cannot continue like this. We can’t be breeding monsters in our local government councils,” He then directed the Clerk of the House, Olalekan Onafeko to write to the State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
