NYSC Scraps Self Deployment, Commences 2021 Batch B Online Registration

By Sunday Awosoro.

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has withdrawn self deployment options as it began the online registration for the 2021 batch ‘B’ candidates on 29th June, 2021.

This, the body publicly declared via a post on its Facebook page.

It reads: “Effective from 2021 Batch ‘B’ there will be no self deployment options on the Portal during Online Registration.

“NYSC Management resumes the authority to deploy all Prospective Corps Members Nationwide based on approved criteria.”

A snapshot of the post.

The Vent Republic recalls that NYSC has earlier suspended the accounts of corps members who belong to the 2021 Batch A, Stream 1 and 2. And as alleged by its Deputy Director of Press and Publicity, Emeka Mgbemena, the affected processed their “deployments fraudulently,” not following “the normal process”.

Aside cancelling redeployments, The Punch reported that “the NYSC authorities also suspended their accounts and stopped their monthly allowance,” asking them to return “to their original state of deployments for rectification”.
