Please don’t avenge Ahmed Gulak’s assassination – Shehu Sani begs Northern Youths

Shehu Sani

Former Senator representing Kaduna Central and renowned human rights activist, Senator Shehu Sani has begged Northern Youths not to avenge the murder of Ahmed Gulak who was assassinated in Imo State on Sunday, May 30.

Gulak was assassinated on his way to catch a flight at the Sam Mbakwe International Airport and his assailants have allegedly been caught and killed by the police.

Sani said:  “The cold blood murder of Ahmed Gulak in Owerri stands unreservedly condemned.

The murder has all the elements of some forces trying to trigger an inter-ethnic war between Northerners and the Igbo.

We must resist that plot. The statement by IPOB dissociating themselves from such despicable and barbaric act and even extending their condolences to the family of the late Gulak should be accepted in good faith.

The police and other associated security agencies should do a diligent investigation and look beyond hurried finger-pointing. May Allah grant Ahmed Gulak Aljanna firdausi.Amin.”the statement in part reads.

Gulak’s murder is capable of setting the north on fire and the lives of the Igbos resident there may not be safe as there has been a long history of reprisal attacks against them in that region.
