Mixed Reactions As The University Of Ilorin Is Set To Resume Harmattan Semester By June

The Better By Far University is set to resume a new session on the 14th of June, 2021. This is barely two weeks after the conclusion of the Rain Semester examinations for the 2020/2021 academic session

Our TVR correspondent reports that this was decided after the Senate meeting held yesterday, 6th of May, 2021 to approve the 2021/2022 academic calender.

The development elicited reactions from the teeming students as the news had already spread across all faculties, few minutes after the decision was agreed on by the Senate.

Several Students received this information with joy in their hearts as they can not wait to be “done and dusted” from the University.

A student while speaking to our correspondent said that it is “a regrettable step. The lecturers are not machines and the students are humans”. He also suggested that ample time be given to students and lecturers to rest from the stress of the just concluded examinations.

As it seems like majority of the students have accepted this new development, there are some that opine it is a ruse. Owing to the extra academic programs some faculties engage in such as SIWES, SWEP, Teaching Practice and so on, the calendar seems “unrealistic”.

Several sources however claim that little adjustment may be made to the calendar to accommodate the earlier stated category of students, the Calendar still remains unchanged.

The Vent Republic Campus correspondent advises students to stay calm as further directions are being awaited from the University Senate, and also pleads with students to focus on the ongoing examinations and avoid any form of distractions.
