Why I Jumped Bail, Ran Out Of Nigeria — Nnamdi Kanu Finally Speaks After Arrest

The Leader of the Indigenous People People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu has revealed why he jumped bail and escaped out of Nigeria despite answering treasonable felony charges levelled against him by the governement of Nigeria as at that time.

THE VENT REPUBLIC had earlier reported that Kanu was re-arrested and extradited to Nigeria and arraigned before Justice Binta Tanko of the Federal High Court 2, Abuja.

He was subsequently provided to the court by the Department of State Security Services (DSS) for the continuation of his trial and the IPOB leader asked that he be granted permission to address the court and state his side of his story.

The visibly dejected Kanu after being obliged of the request told the court that his life was seriously threatened when his house was unlawfully invaded by security operatives and would have been murdered if he had not escaped for his life.

According to him, he had to apply wisdom to discreetly sneak out of the country to prevent being killed with others on the day of the siege.

Prosecuting Counsel, Shuaib Labaran had told the court that Kanu jumped the bail granted by the court to escape trial by running out of the country.

Labaran further applied to the court for an order to remand Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Service (DSS), as according to him, it became necessary as Kanu’s lawyers have not yet be notified of his arrest.

The request was granted by Justice Binta Nyako who ordered that Kanu be remanded in the custody of DSS till July 26 for the continuation of his trial.

THE VENT REPUBLIC will update you guys as events unfolds.
