See The Number Of Men Beaten By Their Wives In The Last 15 Months In Lagos


The Lagos State Government has said at least 89 men were reported to have been battered by their wives in cases of domestic violence between 2020 and the first quarter of 2021.

THE VENT REPUBLIC reports that the Lagos State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA), Mrs. Cecilia Bolaji Dada,at a news conference to mark the second year anniversary of the government of Babajide Sanwo-Olu on Tuesday, April 4, 2021, made the assertion.

According to the Commissioner, in 2020, 46 men reported at her ministry that their wives violated them. 43 men reported in the first quarter of 2021 that their wives beat them up, which summed it up to 89 cases of violence against men in less than two years.

Mrs Dada added that the figure captured only cases that were reported tonher ministry but some cases were reported directly to the Ministry of Justice and the various Police posts which her ministry may not be privy to.

She further added that a total of 664 women were reported to have been battered by their husbands in Lagos the past year, taking cognizance of the cases reported to her Ministry.
