The United States Defense Secretary, Pete Hegseth, has said there is no fixed timeline for ending the ongoing war with Iran, as military operations continue to expand.
Speaking at the Pentagon, he revealed that over 7,000 targets linked to Iran’s military infrastructure have been struck so far, with plans for even larger operations underway.
The conflict, involving the US and Israel, has intensified in recent weeks, with Donald Trump warning of further attacks on key Iranian energy sites.
Fighting has also affected the Strait of Hormuz, a vital channel for global oil supply.

Hegseth said the decision on when to end the war rests with the president, stressing that the mission remains focused on weakening Iran’s military capabilities and preventing it from advancing its strategic weapons programme.
He also addressed reports that the Pentagon may seek over $200 billion in additional funding, noting that while costs are rising, discussions with Congress are ongoing to secure necessary support.
A senior US military official added that operations are extending deeper into Iranian territory, targeting key facilities, as the campaign continues to intensify.
