The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency has intercepted illicit drugs in separate operations in the Federal Capital Territory and Kogi State.
In Abuja, operatives arrested a 32 year old businessman, Emeka Hyginus Okwor, on 3 March after discovering 1,000 pills of tapentadol 250mg hidden inside baby diapers in his luggage.
The suspect was travelling from Obollo Afor in Enugu State to Zuba in the Federal Capital Territory.
According to the agency, Okwor admitted ownership of the consignment and told investigators he intended to deliver the drugs to Guduwa village in Gurara Local Government Area of Niger State where he operates a provision store.
On the same day, officers on patrol along the Kabba Obajana highway in Kogi State intercepted 1.550kg of Colorado, a synthetic strain of cannabis, hidden inside a standing fan carton belonging to a Cameroonian national, Mey Ali Muhamat.
The 36 year old suspect was travelling in a commercial bus from Lagos to Cameroon through Lokoja, Kano and Maiduguri.
