Nigeria’s Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo has today, the 11th of April 2022 declared his intention to contest for the position of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

Of note is the Presidential ambition of Bola Tinubu, former Lagos Governor and Osinbajo’s presumed godfather. Tinubu had later in the year informed Nigerians of the need to fulfill his ‘life and personal ambition’ of becoming Nigeria’s President, after a trip to AsoRock, the seat of power to inform President Muhammadu Buhari.

Despite speculations that Osinbajo would declare his intention for the top job, a lot of Nigerians earlier believed he won’t be able to contest due to his relationship with Tinubu, who was widely believed to have nominated him for the position he currently occupies.

But Osibanjo has dared all odds to indicate his interest in replacing Muhammadu Buhari next year.

Tinubu today met with 14 APC governors and was quizzed by reporters after the meeting. The APC National Leader reiterated his earlier rhetoric on his personal ambition to rule the country. He had said again that “It is my ambition, my vision, and mission to become the President of Nigeria.

One of the reporters reminded him that his son (referring to Osinbajo) just declared today to which he replied: “I have no son grown enough to declare”.
