The Nigeria Police on Wednesday arraigned Dr. John Onuwabhagbe Abebe, an Abuja-based medical practitioner, along with his facility, Joje Abebe Fertility Centre Limited, over allegations of fraud, criminal conspiracy, unlawful disclosure of confidential medical records, and the alleged sale of a couple’s embryos.
Abebe, who also serves as a pastor at Living Faith Church Worldwide in Durumi, Abuja, appeared before Justice A. A. Fashola of the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory, Jabi, on a three-count charge filed in the name of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) under case number CV/005/26.
Both Abebe and his clinic pleaded not guilty when the charges were read. Following the plea, the prosecution, led by Joseph Wada, requested a trial date, while Abebe’s defence lawyer, Marvin Omorogbe, filed a bail application.
The bail request was not opposed by the prosecution, and Justice Fashola granted Abebe bail in the sum of N5 million, with a surety of equal amount, pending the commencement of trial.
