Iran’s President, Masoud Pezeshkian, has reaffirmed that the country will not yield to pressure from Israel or the United States as the Middle East conflict enters its second week.
Speaking in a televised address on Saturday, Pezeshkian insisted that Iran would continue resisting external demands despite ongoing military strikes.
“Iran’s enemies must take their wish for the unconditional surrender of the Iranian people to their graves,” he declared.
The conflict escalated after coordinated Israeli and US strikes on February 28 killed Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, prompting a regional military confrontation.
In response, Iran launched missile and drone attacks targeting US and Israeli assets, particularly across the Gulf region.
Pezeshkian serves on a three-member interim leadership council overseeing Iran’s affairs pending the appointment of a new supreme leader under constitutional law.
During his address, he extended apologies to neighbouring countries affected by Iranian military actions, clarifying they were not intended targets.
“The interim leadership council agreed that no further attacks will be carried out on neighbouring countries unless Iran is directly threatened from those territories,” Pezeshkian said, emphasizing a policy of restrained military action while defending national sovereignty.
