Three PDP Ebonyi State Assembly Members Seats Declared Vacant

Ebonyi House of Assembly has declared the seats of
Three members elected under the People Democratic Party (PDP) has had their seats declared vacant.

THE VENT REPUBLIC reports that this is on the heals of a letter of resignation purportedly written by the three lawmakers.

The three lawmakers affected are Ali Okechukwu representing Ishielu North; Franca Okpo representing Abakaliki North and Victor Aleke representingEbonyi West.

With Fifteen APC lawmakers attending the sitting, the three lawmakers and their PDP colleagues were notably absent.

Ebonyi State House of Assembly Speaker, Francis Nwifuru, whilie reading the letters on the floor of the House, declared the seats of the three lawmakers vacant.

The Speaker then ordered the clerk to write to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to notify the electoral body of the development and the need to conduct fresh elections in the affected constituencies.

THE VENT REPUBLIC recalls that an High Court sitting in Abuja had sacked the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Um ah I and his Deputy for leaving the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the platform they were elected on, to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Governor has appealed the ruling.
