Zenith Bank Plc has expanded its global footprint with the launch of a new branch of Zenith Bank (UK) Limited in Manchester, officially opened on March 17, 2026.
The development marks a significant step in the bank’s push to deepen its international operations and strengthen its position within the UK–Africa financial corridor.
The commissioning ceremony attracted a wide range of senior figures from both Nigeria and the United Kingdom, reflecting the importance of the expansion. Attendees included representatives of President Bola Tinubu, alongside top government officials, regulators, and industry leaders.





Also present were the bank’s founder Jim Ovia and Group CEO Adaora Umoeji, highlighting the institution’s leadership commitment to the project.
Strategically positioned in Manchester, the new branch is designed to complement Zenith’s existing London presence, with a focus on corporate banking, trade finance, and treasury services.
It is expected to serve businesses operating between the UK and Africa, supporting cross-border transactions and investment flows.

The expansion comes on the back of strong financial performance by the bank, which has recorded robust capital growth and increased earnings in recent reporting periods.
This financial strength has enabled Zenith to pursue ambitious international projects while maintaining stability.
Stakeholders at the event emphasized that the new branch will not only enhance trade and financial linkages between Nigeria and the UK but also contribute to the local economy through job creation.
The Manchester operation is projected to generate dozens of direct employment opportunities.The move forms part of Zenith Bank’s broader strategy to scale its presence across key global markets, including Europe and Africa.

With operations already spanning major financial hubs and plans for further expansion, the bank continues to position itself as a major player in facilitating Africa’s integration into the global financial system.
