At least 24 companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited have crossed the N1 trillion market capitalisation mark in 2025, highlighting the growing dominance of large corporations in Nigeria’s capital market.
Telecommunications firms dominate the list, with Airtel Africa Plc emerging as the most valuable company on the exchange with a market value of about N23.60 trillion.
It is followed by MTN Nigeria Communications Plc, which has an estimated valuation of N16.31 trillion.
The manufacturing and cement sectors also feature prominently. BUA Foods Plc ranks among the top three companies with a market value of N14.36 trillion, while Dangote Cement Plc and BUA Cement Plc are valued at N13.57 trillion and N8.37 trillion respectively.
In the energy sector, Aradel Holdings Plc and Seplat Energy Plc are valued at N5.82 trillion and N5.07 trillion respectively, while power generation companies such as Geregu Power Plc and Transcorp Power Plc also recorded strong market valuations.
Nigeria’s banking industry maintains a significant presence among the trillion-naira firms.
Leading financial institutions including Guaranty Trust Holding Company Plc, Zenith Bank Plc, First HoldCo Plc, Stanbic IBTC Holdings Plc, United Bank for Africa Plc, Access Holdings Plc, Ecobank Transnational Incorporated and Wema Bank Plc all feature on the list.
Other major firms crossing the trillion-naira mark include Lafarge Africa Plc, Nestlé Nigeria Plc, International Breweries Plc, Presco Plc, Nigerian Breweries Plc, Transcorp Hotels Plc and Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc.
Analysts say the rise in trillion-naira companies reflects sustained investor confidence in Nigeria’s biggest firms, particularly those operating in telecommunications, banking, energy, manufacturing and consumer goods.
